Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.
I am originally from Decatur, IL and attended St. Teresa High School where I graduated as the valedictorian. I then attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Science for Secondary Education as well as a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences in May 2009. I returned to EIU to complete my master's of science degree in Natural Sciences (a dual purpose master's for both teaching and biological research content) over the summers of 2011-2013.
I began teaching at Illini Bluffs High School during the 2009-10 school year. I currently teach Earth Science, Physical Science, Biology, and Biology II. I am also a class sponsor for the class of 2021.
As far as life outside of teaching at IB, my family is very important to me and we are so happy to be a part of this community. We live in Lake Camelot and look forward to sending our kids to IB when they get older. My husband Patrick is also a teacher. He teaches career and technical education courses at Limestone High School such as architectural and mechanical engineering, Project Lead The Way courses including Intro to Engineering and Principals of Engineering, AutoCAD, and other similar courses. We have two children. Isaac is four years old and keeps us on our toes with his curiosity and energy. He will be starting in Bright Futures in the fall and can't wait to go to school! Nora is two years old and is our sassy little lady who loves cuddles and playing with her big brother.
